About Art Options

ART Options is an arts-infused program designed to support the development of employment, social, communication and life management skills for people of all abilities ages 16 and older, in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. Participants use their innate talent and community experiences to create works of art. Participants are involved with the arts community through classes, volunteering, and visiting exhibits and museums. These experiences contribute to artistic exchange and enhance the artists’ career development.

All artists involved in the program learn business and promotional skills, in addition to fine arts training. All works are available for sale with eighty percent of proceeds going directly to the artist and twenty percent used to purchase supplies and grow the program.

About St. John’s Community Services

As one of the oldest non-profit organizations founded in the District of Columbia, St. John’s is committed to supporting and advocating for people of all abilities. SJCS works to build stronger communities and to ensure that all people have a meaningful quality of life. This commitment and focus have allowed SJCS to grow and annually support people beyond its original District of Columbia footprint. Today, in addition to the District of Columbia, we provide services in four states: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. Our nationally recognized “program without walls,” activist approach supports people and communities alike. This successful method results in the people we serve experiencing new opportunities, building new relationships, experiencing a sense of belonging, and fully participating in and becoming valued members of their communities.
